Food-ventures 1.0

Hello there non-existent readers of my non-existent blog,
It honestly took me forever to think of what I could write for this week's blog post because really; I don't do much most of my life. But FORTUNATELY, I did think of something and I did venture out to some new places the past weekend.
As you all know (or not- now you do), I really love food. I really really really love food. It's like an obsession. Maybe it's just me but I do know a lot of people who has the same obsession as I do. Because honestly, how can you NOT like food ?
So, on Saturday 31st January 2016, I travelled to a Japanese restaurant that I have never tried before and came home after that feeling very pleased and satisfied.
It is a Japanese restaurant named Sushi Koshu, situated in Diamond Bar, California. I don't know if you'll understand what I mean but, the restaurant just gave off that vibe that kind of felt like "COME IN HERE. I HAVE A GREAT ATMOSPHERE. YOU'LL LIKE ME".
I would usually judge restaurants based on their atmosphere, and their interior design (also another obsession of mine). I don't really judge the food because honestly, I can't judge food. To me, if a food tastes the way it is, and other people don't like it, I would just say "That's the way it's supposed to taste, and I may not suit everyone's palette."
So, back onto Sushi Koshu. It gave a really nice vibe and the interior was pretty decent. THE FOOD THOUGH WAS GREAT IN MY OPINION.
| Can I just say, I AM IN LOVE WITH THEIR MENU COVER?? |
I ordered a combination set of Tempura and Salmon Shioyaki and it came with a bowl of rice, 2 side salads (on the tray shown above), a bowl of miso soup and another salad before that. The set cost around $15-16. I don't really remember but in my opinion, THAT'S PRETTY DECENT.
I thought the service was great. The waiters would frequently come around asking if everything is fine and they were really nice too. If your first language is not English, or maybe you're not as proficient and you choose not to speak it as often, NO WORRIES. The waiter ladies DO speak Chinese. I am not sure whether or not they are Korean or Japanese but, they do speak Chinese.
I WILL POST THE ADDRESSES AND CONTACT INFORMATION OF ANY RESTAURANT THAT I WILL BE TALKING ABOUT IN THIS POST AT THAT BOTTOM OF THE ENTIRE POST FYI.
The next day, I did also try out another restaurant in Studio City, LA. We were going to go for ramen but with a party of 11, it's hard to get seats and also shocking the heck out of the servers with the amount of people crammed together on small seats in a ramen bar.
Despite that misfortune, we then changed courses and went for Indian.
We headed for a Indian restaurant (still in Studio City) called Lal Mirch. OH BOY, I WAS EXCITED ABOUT THIS. I have never tried actual Indian cuisine in my life. I am Malaysian where there are many Indians but, I have only tried Mamak cuisine and never Indian so, this really got my spirits goin UP.
I had such a hard time choosing what to order because 1. I am really unfamiliar with Indian cuisine. 2. There were just an abundant of dishes to order from on the menu. At last, I settled for a Tandoori Chicken- which was one of their most popular dishes.
On the left, is a Coconut Lamb Curry on medium spice (you get to choose the spice level of your curry) and on the right is a sizzling plate of Tandoori Chicken. I apologise for the bad quality picture because it was quite dark in there and using flash would've just made it look awkward. SORRY.
Though I must say, my favourite dish was neither of the dishes in the picture. There was a fish curry my aunt had ordered, and It was the best thing I had tasted the entire day. It blessed my taste buds. The garlic naan bread was ALSO VERY BOMB.
I would say my very first experience with Indian cuisine went swimmingly. The ONLY critique I have from my very short visit to India was that I would much appreciate it is was a TAD BIT brighter in the restaurant. Though I know "Maybe it's their thing.", I CAN'T SEE WHAT I'M EATING. It was really hard to tell whether or not I still had rice on my plate or I had run out of rice.
And this, is where I will end my post for the week ! GOODBYEEE~
